Most outdoor sauna kits we sell cost about $5,300 to $20,000 in USD, and designer sauna cabins start around $30,000. Those are product prices, not installed totals. Budget separately for the heater (often chosen as an add-on), the base, electrical work and assembly. Request a quote or call 888-596-4403 to price a specific sauna.

What else to budget for
- Heater. On many of our saunas, including the Harmony barrel and the Pure Cube CU552, you pick the heater as a priced option on the product page. Some models say “heater sold separately.” Check each listing.
- Base. The sauna needs a level, well-drained base: a concrete pad, pavers, a suitable deck or prepared gravel.
- Electrical work. Most electric sauna heaters need 240V. Budget for a licensed electrician, a dedicated circuit and, usually, an electrical permit. If your home’s electrical service is already heavily loaded, the electrician may recommend a load management device; ask for it to be priced in the electrical quote.
- Assembly. Leisurecraft kits take two people about 6–12 hours with minimal tools. If you’d rather not build it yourself, get a quote from a carpenter or contractor.
- Unloading and moving. Delivery is to your address, not into the backyard. Plan help or equipment to move the kit to its base.
- Permits and HOA approval. Rules vary by city and community, so check with your building department and HOA before you pick a spot. Our outdoor sauna code and permit guide lists what to ask.
Backyard America doesn’t install saunas, but we help find installers and give you expert support by phone.
What changes the price of a sauna?
Size and seating
Bigger saunas with more bench space cost more. Start with how many people will usually use it together, then pick the smallest size that fits them comfortably.
Wood and finish
The catalog includes white cedar, clear red cedar and knotty red cedar, among others. Clear and knotty grades of the same wood are priced differently. Our guide to sauna wood and materials compares the options.
Glass and extras
Panoramic glass, porches, changerooms and showers all add to the price. The BLACK Collection runs from $8,584 for the Neptune Mini to $19,799 for the Astra Max with Changeroom.
Heater included or not
Compare like with like. A list price that includes a heater isn’t directly comparable to one that doesn’t. On the Pure Cube CU552 Outdoor ($10,044), for example, the 6 kW heater options are priced as add-ons, and the Pure Cube Trinity in clear red cedar ($9,921) says “heater sold separately.”
Barrel vs. cabin vs. cube
Barrels start lowest in our range and shed rain and snow well. Cabins and pods start at a similar price and come in more layouts, including models with a porch. Cubes such as Pure Cube start higher, at $9,921, and have a modern, square look. Compare models at similar sizes and equipment levels.
Electric vs. wood-burning heater
Electric heaters are the most common choice. They need 240V wiring by a licensed electrician, which belongs in your budget from the start. Browse our electric sauna heaters, or see HUUM sauna heaters; we’re an authorized HUUM dealer.
A wood-burning sauna stove needs no heater wiring, but it does need a chimney, safe clearances and a supply of firewood. Check local rules on wood burning and burn bans for your address, and confirm the stove fits the sauna you choose.
Delivery, deposit and timing
Sauna kits ship by freight with liftgate delivery to your address. Depending on the product, orders ship from Illinois, Ontario or Calgary. Delivery doesn’t include moving the kit into the backyard, unpacking, assembly or installation.
Made-to-order saunas generally take 4–16 weeks; check the lead time on each product page. Use that time to prepare the base, book an electrician and apply for any permits.
Orders over $10,000 need a 50% deposit. Delivery to Alaska, Hawaii and US territories is by quote only.
Colorado and Washington State notes
Colorado: High altitude, strong sun and heavy snow affect which sauna and finish you choose. Check permits with your city (Denver Community Planning and Development in Denver), and check current Front Range burn rules before choosing wood heat. See outdoor saunas for sale in Colorado.
Washington State: Rain, shade and moss make placement and drainage the first decisions. Check with Seattle SDCI or your city’s permit office, and check Puget Sound burn bans before planning wood-fired use. See outdoor saunas for sale in Washington State.
Outdoor sauna cost FAQ
Most outdoor sauna kits we sell cost about $5,300 to $20,000 in USD, and designer sauna cabins start around $30,000. These are product prices. Add the heater, which is often priced separately, plus the base, electrical work and assembly.
Our barrel saunas list from $5,977 to $13,536. Finnmark combination barrels, with both infrared and traditional heat, list at $9,495 to $9,995. Check each listing to see whether a heater is included.
Add the sauna price to the cost of the heater (if not included), a level base, electrical work, assembly and any permits. There’s no single installed total that fits every yard, so get quotes for the work your site needs.
For an electric heater, multiply the heater’s kW by the hours you use it and by your electricity rate per kWh. Heaters cycle on and off once the room is hot, so this gives you an upper estimate.
Usually not. On many of our saunas, such as the Harmony barrel and the Pure Cube CU552 Outdoor, you choose the heater as a priced option on the product page, and some models say “heater sold separately.” Check the listing before you order.
