What an Outdoor Sauna Costs Delivered to Washington State

For a Washington State project, start with the USD list prices below. They are product prices, not a full installed total, and they can change, so check each product page for the current price and confirm delivery details on the listing or quote.

What else to budget:

  • A heater, if the listing doesn’t include one (Canadian Timber prices don’t).
  • A licensed electrician and a 240V circuit.
  • A level, well-drained base and any required permits.
  • A load management device if your home’s 100 amp service is already loaded; this can add $2,000 or more.
  • Assembly help, if you won’t build the kit yourself, and help or equipment for unloading.

Choosing an Outdoor Sauna for Washington's Climate

Rain and damp

Western Washington’s long wet season makes placement the first decision. Put the sauna where it gets sun and airflow, keep it off bare soil, and plan gutters or a drip edge so roof runoff lands away from the base.

Cedar care and moss

Shaded wood can grow moss and mildew in humid weather. Clear needles and leaves off the roof and treat the exterior. Red cedar and white cedar both resist rot, but both need exterior care; untreated white cedar weathers lighter and lacks red cedar’s scent.

Drainage and ventilation

Choose a level, well-drained base and let the sauna air out after each session. Properly prepared gravel, pavers, a concrete pad or a suitable level deck can all work.

Spokane’s cold, snowy winters

East of the Cascades the air is drier, winters are cold and snowy, and summers are hot. Snow shedding and the base matter more than moss: compare barrel and sloped-roof cabin shapes, check roof specifications, and prepare the base for frost heave.

Outdoor Sauna Planning Across Washington State

Seattle area: Seattle, Tacoma and Bellevue

In Seattle, plan around frequent drizzle and shaded lots: give the sauna airflow, manage roof runoff and keep the base well drained. SDCI generally exempts certain shed-like accessory buildings under 120 sq ft of roof area, but a heated sauna may not qualify, so confirm with SDCI before you order.

In Tacoma, check your project with the city building department. Bellevue explicitly lists installing a sauna as work that requires a permit.

Spokane

Spokane calls for different planning than a damp west-side yard. Compare barrels and cabin roof shapes for snow shedding, check the roof specs of the model you want, and prepare a level, well-drained base that accounts for frost heave. Most electric heaters need 240V, so include a licensed electrician and, in most cities, an electrical permit. Check your project with the city or county building department.

Vancouver, WA

Vancouver sits across the Columbia River from Portland, Oregon, and shares its long wet season. Prioritize a base that drains well and a spot with sun and airflow, keep the sauna off bare soil, and check your project with the City of Vancouver or Clark County. Tell us before ordering about gates, narrow access or overhead obstructions that could affect freight delivery.

Freight Delivery, Assembly and Installation

Saunas ship as prefabricated kits by freight carrier from the US or Canada. Delivery is normally curbside or to your driveway, as stated on the listing or quote. Made-to-order saunas generally take 4–16 weeks; check the lead time on each product page.

Delivery doesn’t include moving the kit into your backyard, unpacking, assembly, installation, utility connections, or a crane or forklift. Liftgate service isn’t guaranteed, and large saunas sometimes have to be opened and unloaded by hand if the liftgate is too small. An adult needs to be there when a signature or unloading help is required.

Tell us before ordering about narrow roads, steep driveways, gates, overhead obstructions or restricted truck access. For a property with soft, wet ground or narrow side-yard access, plan how the kit will get from the delivery point to its base. Call 888-596-4403 to talk it through.

Two people can assemble the kit with minimal tools using the written instructions and how-to videos. Most models take about 8–14 hours, and barrels and Pure Cubes are generally the easiest builds. We don’t ship saunas assembled, because that needs a crane and costs more than having a carpenter build the kit on site.

Prepare a level, well-drained base, such as a suitable deck, pavers, a concrete pad or a gravel pad with a proper base. Most electric sauna heaters need 240V, which means a licensed electrician and, in most cities, an electrical permit.

Washington Outdoor Sauna FAQ

Confirm with the Seattle Department of Construction and Inspections (SDCI). SDCI generally exempts one-story detached sheds or accessory buildings under 120 sq ft of roof area with shed-like use, but a heated sauna may not qualify.

Yes. Bellevue explicitly lists installing a sauna as work that requires a permit. Confirm the requirements for your project before ordering.

A 240V heater needs a licensed electrician and an electrical permit in most cities. Check the requirements for your address.

Check your HOA rules and setbacks before choosing the sauna’s location. In Tacoma, Spokane and Vancouver, WA, confirm requirements with the city or county building department.

Wood-burning heaters fit most of our saunas, except the smallest models. Check local burn-ban rules before choosing one; an electric heater avoids that question.

Made-to-order saunas generally take 4–16 weeks. Check the lead time on each product page, or call us at 888-596-4403.
