Benefits of Far Infrared Light
Adding far infrared to your daily routine may be beneficial. Its heat reaches deeper into the body, encouraging more perspiration and potentially helping remove accumulated toxins. Far infrared belongs to the light spectrum. Infrared accounts for most of the sun's energy and has three subdivisions: near, middle and far.
When our bodies absorb far infrared, we experience warmth, and various biological systems are stimulated. Devices that emit far infrared heat have been used safely for therapeutic purposes for 30 years. These applications include warming premature babies in hospitals.
Infrared Sauna Safety
Certification from CSA provides documented assurance that your infrared sauna or other Saunacore product has undergone testing against strict safety requirements. Precautions undergo testing, documentation and certification in Canada. Testing of Saunacore products follows the safety standards of CSA, UL and CE.
Health benefits of infrared saunas
Long-wave infrared sits immediately below red light in the next lower energy band, with “infra” meaning below. Although our eyes cannot see light in this range, our bodies perceive it as heat.
INFRARED SAUNA FAQ
No. Compared with traditional saunas, infrared models run at cooler temperatures. Their heat warms your body directly instead of heating the surrounding air, which may produce a deeper sweat that supports detoxification.
The distinction matters. Canadian Red Cedar is favored for sauna construction, so cedar logs are exported to Asia and frequently turned into saunas there. We’ve tested these models at Backyard America and often found components of substandard quality. Examples include weak doors that let heat escape, straps that buckle under tension and infrared panels producing excessive EMF. These and other shortcomings make the saunas less appealing for long-term use.
For these saunas, North American made means construction takes place in North America using Canadian materials. They are built with lasting performance in mind and carry a lifetime warranty.
Research suggests infrared saunas may help with detoxification. Heavy metal detoxification in particular has prompted many fire departments to add infrared sauna use to their detoxification protocols. Other health benefits attributed to infrared saunas are largely inferred from Finnish Government research on traditional sauna use. Those potential benefits include increased longevity, more years spent in good health, cardiovascular improvements, heat shock protein activation and more.
