HUUM products are made entirely in Estonia

Made in Estonia

Working with several partners, HUUM produces its sauna heaters, controllers and other products entirely within Estonia. Behind the heaters' apparently simple shapes is a surprisingly intricate manufacturing process. To ensure the highest possible quality throughout production, HUUM works alongside leading Estonian metalworking companies. Most materials that go into these products are imported, including the stainless steel and electronic components.

3 generations of sauna traditions

Built with Pride

Sauna heater production spans three generations in the family of HUUM founder Siim Nellis. His grandfather, an accomplished oven builder, had extensive experience constructing sauna stoves. His father remains involved in making sauna heaters as well. Continuing that family tradition, Siim brings together Estonia's sauna-building expertise, contemporary design and innovative technology.

Uku remote controls that are smart on the inside and beautiful on the outside

Cutting Edge Control

Talented developers in HUUM's hometown of Tartu created the innovative electronics behind its remote controls and app. The technology now in use took five years of development and refinement. Oshino Electronics Estonia manufactures the remote controls, with cases available in wood or plastic in various colors. Each wooden case is crafted by hand from thermo-treated ash, so every one has its own distinctive appearance.

HUUM SAUNA HEATER FAQ

A Wi-Fi-enabled controller lets you start heating your sauna wherever you are. It may be one of the most useful ways to control an appliance over Wi-Fi: switch it on while you’re at the office, on the ski hill or elsewhere, and have a preheated sauna waiting when you arrive home.

Several factors affect warm-up time, so there isn’t one simple answer. Most saunas reach temperature in 30-80 minutes when ventilation is properly placed beneath the heater and high on the opposite wall. Larger heaters holding more stones need a little extra time because of their greater thermal mass. That same mass helps them retain warmth and restore the sauna’s heat faster after someone opens the door.

HUUM heaters hold plenty of stones to produce steam, or Loyly. With that greater stone mass, you can lower the sauna setting to around 50 or 60 degrees Celsius, then add plenty of water to the stones to bring humidity to 50 or 60%. The aim is for those two numbers to total 110. Using your sauna this way offers an additional steam room option.

The temperature limit for HUUM heaters, as for every sauna heater, is 90 degrees Celsius.

Every HUUM electric heater needs a 240-volt supply with 30-50 amps. For heaters above 11 kW, an additional 240-volt power line may also be necessary.

Yes. Pouring water over the stones is part of how HUUM heaters are designed to work, creating steam and increasing the room’s humidity. The generous quantity of stones lets you continue adding water to create as much steam as you want.

Yes. A HUUM heater consists of the cage and heating elements, so a controller supplies the means to switch it on and manage its operation. Buying the controller gives you that control. A HUUM wood-burning model doesn’t require a controller, though it does require a vent kit.

A control box comes with the HUUM controller. All wiring connects back to this box: the screen and control dial, HUUM heater, thermostat and door sensor.

Yes. Your electrician must run a neutral wire to the controller’s control box so it can supply your lights with the 120-volt electricity they use. That neutral connection is necessary for the controller to power the lights.

Yes. You can enable Wi-Fi with a software upgrade through the HUUM app. Keep in mind that upgrading costs about $100 more than purchasing a controller with Wi-Fi already enabled, and the charge is in Euros.
