What an Outdoor Sauna Costs Delivered to Colorado

For a Colorado project, start with the USD list prices below. They are product prices, not a full installed total, and they can change, so check each product page for the current price and confirm delivery details on the listing or quote.

What else to budget:

  • A heater, if the listing doesn’t include one (Canadian Timber prices don’t).
  • A licensed electrician and a 240V circuit.
  • A level, well-drained base and any required permits.
  • A load management device if your home’s 100 amp service is already loaded; this can add $2,000 or more.
  • Assembly help, if you won’t build the kit yourself, and help or equipment for unloading.

Planning an Outdoor Sauna for Colorado Weather

Altitude and sun

Colorado’s high altitude and strong UV fade and dry cedar faster than at lower elevations. Plan on a UV-protective exterior finish from day one, whether you choose a barrel, cabin or cube, and expect to renew it more often on a sauna that sits in full sun.

Dry air and wood care

Very dry air can make exterior wood check or crack. Keep a finish on the outside and let the sauna ventilate after each session so the interior dries evenly. Cedar handles moisture and temperature swings well, but it still needs that basic care.

Snow load and roof shape

Barrels and sloped-roof cabins shed snow on their own, which suits Front Range winters. Heavy, wet spring snow still needs attention: check the roof specifications of the model you want and clear heavy loads. If you like the flat-roof look of a Pure Cube, review its roof specs before you choose it for a snowy site.

Freeze-thaw and foundations

Big day-to-night temperature swings make the base important for every style. A level, well-drained concrete pad or a properly prepared compacted gravel base helps keep frost heave from shifting the sauna. Have the base ready before the kit arrives.

Outdoor Sauna Planning Across Colorado

Denver and Aurora

On a smaller Denver lot, check setbacks and the delivery route before you pick a kit, and tell us about alley access, gates or restricted truck access before you order. Denver’s building-permit exemption covers qualifying non-conditioned accessory structures up to 200 sq ft of roof area, and a heated sauna may not qualify, so confirm with Denver Community Planning and Development first.

In Aurora, check your project with the city building department before you order.

Colorado Springs

Building permits for Colorado Springs and El Paso County go through the Pikes Peak Regional Building Department (PPRBD), so check with PPRBD before ordering. On a hilly lot, choose a level, well-drained spot and tell us about steep driveways or tight truck access ahead of time. Freight delivery normally ends at the curb or driveway, so plan how the kit will get from there to its base.

Boulder

For a foothills property, plan wildfire clearance around the sauna before you settle on a location. If you want a wood-burning heater, check local stove rules and burn bans first; an electric heater avoids that question. Confirm setbacks and code requirements with the city or county building department. Strong sun and dry air also mean planning for a UV-protective finish.

Fort Collins

On the northern Front Range, plan for cold nights, snow and hail. A barrel or sloped-roof cabin sheds snow more easily, and a level, well-drained base handles freeze-thaw swings. Check permit requirements with the city or county building department, and include a licensed electrician and the likely electrical permit in your budget if you choose an electric heater.

Freight Delivery, Assembly and Installation

Saunas ship as prefabricated kits by freight carrier from the US or Canada. Delivery is normally curbside or to your driveway, as stated on the listing or quote. Made-to-order saunas generally take 4–16 weeks; check the lead time on each product page.

Delivery doesn’t include moving the kit into your backyard, unpacking, assembly, installation, utility connections, or a crane or forklift. Liftgate service isn’t guaranteed, and large saunas sometimes have to be opened and unloaded by hand if the liftgate is too small. An adult needs to be there when a signature or unloading help is required.

Tell us before ordering about narrow roads, steep driveways, gates, overhead obstructions or restricted truck access. For a mountain property or a steep, winding driveway, describe the truck route so we can plan the delivery. Call 888-596-4403 to talk it through.

Two people can assemble the kit with minimal tools using the written instructions and how-to videos. Most models take about 8–14 hours, and barrels and Pure Cubes are generally the easiest builds. We don’t ship saunas assembled, because that needs a crane and costs more than having a carpenter build the kit on site.

Prepare a level, well-drained base, such as a suitable deck, pavers, a concrete pad or a gravel pad with a proper base. Most electric sauna heaters need 240V, which means a licensed electrician and, in most cities, an electrical permit.

Colorado Outdoor Sauna FAQ

Confirm with Denver Community Planning and Development before you order. Denver exempts one-story, detached, non-conditioned accessory structures up to 200 sq ft of roof area from a building permit, but a heated sauna may not count as non-conditioned. Zoning setbacks still apply.

Check with the Pikes Peak Regional Building Department (PPRBD), which handles building permits for Colorado Springs and El Paso County. Confirm the requirements for your sauna and property before ordering.

Most electric sauna heaters run on 240V. A 240V heater needs a licensed electrician and, in most cities, an electrical permit. Confirm the requirements for your address.

Check your HOA rules before ordering, and confirm the setbacks that apply to your property.

Wood-burning heaters fit most of our saunas, except the smallest models. Check local wood-burning rules and burn bans before choosing one, especially near the foothills.

Made-to-order saunas generally take 4–16 weeks. Check the lead time on each product page, or call us at 888-596-4403.
