Awning Details
How to Measure for Your Retractable Arm Awning

You will need a clear span (no projections like vents, lights, down spouts, trim details etc.) that is 10" high to attach the mounting brackets for the awning. NOTE: The length of the awning is determined by the overall length of the roller tube and it's fittings. The fabric is approximately 6"(3" on each side) less than the total length.

Awnings can be mounted to any solid surface, however you should ensure that the bolts penetrate a structural member (stud, header, beam etc.) a minimum of 1 1/2". The bottom of the frame, measured at the point of attachment should be a minimum of 7'6" from the deck or patio. If you are ordering a protective hood allow an additional 1.5" in length. Should you be mounting the awning over an out swinging French or storm door, the awning should be mounted at least 10" above the top of the door. For difficult or low applications, we offer ceiling and roof mounting brackets (see below).

After measuring the length, you need to determine which projection you need. The projections shown are the maximum distance out from the mounting wall the awning will cover. Make sure that there are no obstructions in the area that the awning will cover. The slope (pitch) of the awning is adjustable.

Finally, determine the operation, or which side of the awning you want the crank and/or motor to be located. Standing on the deck or patio facing the mounting wall, select left or right. Your choice should be based on ease of access and any obstructions. If the awning is to be motorized, access to the power source is an obvious consideration.

A complete set of instructions is sent with every awning. Should you need further assistance in measuring, we are just a phone call away.

Valance Style - The valence is 8" high, you may choose from any of the valance styles below.

Frame Color - Three powder coated colors are available for the frame and hood of your awning.  Additionally, you may order the frame and hood in anodized aluminum. Choose from any of the four at no additional cost: White, Bronze, Beige, or Anodized Aluminum.

Motors & Accessories  - All awnings come standard with manual crank operation.  A remote controlled plug-in  manual override motor is available as an option.  By having the manual override, should you lose power and your awning is extended, you will be able to manually retract it. We also offer a multi-channel remote control that will allow you to control up to five awnings with one remote.

Hood and End Cover - Provides protection for your awning when retracted. Also gives a more finished look to the installation. It is not needed if the awning is mounted under an overhang. Hoods are made of aluminum and available in colors to match the frame. Hoods add 1.5" to the length of the awning.

Roof Brackets - These brackets allow the awning to be mounted higher when there is a sloped roof surface available. Available in 45, 72, and 90 degree models. See table for number of brackets needed.

Ceiling Brackets - Used to mount the awning under an overhang or to a soffit. Available in 90 and 108 degree models. See table for number of brackets needed.
